Wanna try some Thai?
Driving down Central Ave. in Northeast Minneapolis recently, I spotted a new Thai restaurant that I'd like to check out: Senyai-Senlek, at 2422 Central Ave. N.E. The menu says they specialize in Thai street food - especially sticky rice and noodle dishes, but this is not your old-fashioned ethnic eatery - they have a wine bar, and bill themselves as, "Perfect for a relaxing dinner out in the City's funky, arts-intensive neighborhood."
I was by myself the other day when I stopped in for lunch at SerenTori restaurant, 5748 34th Ave., Minneapolis, so I could only try one dish, which made it kind of a tough choice. The $6.95 lunch specials didn't sound that appealing - they're mostly Chinese take-out classics like Sesame Chicken, Egg Foo Young, and Mongolian Beef (all come with fried rice and choice of egg roll or cream cheese wonton).
