Cinema Lounge Gets Creepy at the BLB!

FILM
Cinema Lounge

Attention aspiring film makers, established film makers, and all film junkies! Check out tonight's special edition of Cinema Lounge - an all-spooky spectacular in honor of Halloween! See a number of short films by up and coming film makers; including The Lick, a scary and hilarious short revolving around a disembodied tongue that possesses party-goers, by zany Minneapolis/Los Angeles artist and director Josh McKevitt. He'll be conducting a Q&A, thanks to the wonders of technology, from L.A. after the screening. Also on the docket is Incubus Drone, by Ryan Wetherall, and Hellraiser: No More Souls, plus a Q&A with production manager Christopher Grap following the film. Come ready to scream (and laugh) at this fun and frightening installment of Cinema Lounge, a monthly movie-watchin' and minglin' party!

Doors 6pm, Screening at 7pm, Bryant Lake Bowl Theater, 810 W. Lake Street, Uptown, Free

DANCE
Ronald K. Brown Evidence

Critically acclaimed choreographer Ronald K. Brown brings his mesmerizing brand of movement and artistry to the Ordway stage for this special one-night engagement. Through the beauty of ballet, as well as African and modern dance, Brown creates an exquisite experience that connects history, traditions, struggles, tragedies, and triumphs. The pieces, entitled One Shot - First Glance, Come Ye, and Grace, will take you on a fluid, emotionally charged journey leaving you breathless and dreamy - and wishing you didn't have two left feet. Make a complete evening of it with a pre-show feast at Italian fave, Pazzaluna, just a few short blocks from the Ordway!

7:30pm, The Ordway, 345 Washington Street, Downtown St. Paul, $15-$35

THEATER
Distracted

Complete with a glowing recommendation from our own Jeremy Iggers, the consensus on Mixed Blood's latest production, Distracted, is that it's a must-see! The story follows Jesse, an ADHD-diagnosed 9-year old, and his mother, as she looks for answers from allergists, psychologists, psychiatrists, neighbors, family and friends. While this comedy pokes fun at how society is often quick jump to conclusions, it paints an honest and thoughtfully presented portrait of a real problem. This witty and balanced comedy explores a world of sensory overload, complete with sound and video that will surely "distract" as well as entertain.

Bonus: For performances on October 16th-19th you can snap up 2-for-1 tickets to Distracted!

7:30pm, Mixed Blood Theater, 1501 S. 4th Street, Minneapolis, $13
