I'd just turn the AC off for a few moments, then turn the lights on while recording the forecast. Then I'd turn the lights off again and turn the AC back on. If it was too dark to find the AC knobs, I'd use the flashlight to find them.
But I'm talking out of turn here, I know. The Dutchman is the weather expert. What the Dutchman decides to do is not only his business, it is also almost 100 percent of the time the right way to play it. So I'm not doubting the Dutchman for not doing it the way I would have done it. Obviously there are factors involved that I have not considered. If I knew what those other factors were, I've no doubt what so ever that I would have played this situation the way the Dutchman played it.
